Community Living Parry Sound is a not-for-profit organization that supports people with disabilities at home and in the community. We are also a registered charity #119262319RR0001.

What We Do:

  • We support people and families to navigate systems to better access the resources and services they need.

Our Community

Community Living Parry Sound acknowledges that we are settlers on this land which is the traditional and rightful territory of the Ojibway, Odawa, and Potawatomi people. We also acknowledge that we continue to benefit from colonization and the displacement of the original inhabitants of the ceded land covered by the Robinson-Huron Treaty of 1850. We honour the people of the Three Fires Confederacy and their sacred relationship with the land and all creation. We are grateful to the generations of Anishinaabek people who are the caretakers of this land, protectors of water, and sustainers of life. We solemnly remember the innumerable atrocities inflicted upon the Indigenous people of Turtle Island, as well as the tragic legacies of injustice that will continue to cause harm for generations. We acknowledge the resilience of Indigenous peoples who have been stewards of the land and sharers of truth since time immemorial. Though we recognize that this statement does not repair the harm inflicted upon Indigenous peoples and lands, we continue to seek the truth and share this acknowledgement in the spirit of ongoing allyship and reconciliation. We invite all to hear this acknowledgement and share in our commitment to relationship building with Indigenous Peoples, knowledge, and ways of being. All my relations.

Our Service Principles

Person-Directed

We will create services consistent with the needs of people. We will create opportunities for those in the natural support network to assist the person to define their support needs.

Mission-Driven

We will create an environment where staff members see their role as supporting the needs and aspirations of the person. We will empower staff teams to be cohesive, highly motivated, focused, trained, and committed to the Mission of the Agency.

Community First

We will ensure that people we support are included in the community.

Excellence in Community Experiences

  • Take a person-directed approach to supporting people in their communities.
  • Increase opportunities for people to socialize with new and [stay connected with] existing friends.
  • Keep supporting people to find employment, volunteer, and engage in other meaningful pursuits.
  • Provide just the right amount of support to all people.

Purposeful use of Technology

  • Focus on expanding the role technology plays in the lives of people to learn, communicate, and socialize.
  • Support people in developing their skillsets, confidence, and comfort using technology.
  • Balance virtual supports and in-person supports, to be responsive to people’s individual wants and needs.

Robust Network of Community Connections & Partners

  • Keep forming new relationships to connect people with their community, to provide the organization and its employees with additional resources, and to be a resource to others.
  • Remain open to and act on opportunities to partner with other organizations to achieve organizational excellence.

Consistent Staffing & Health Workplace Culture

  • Adopting new strategies for recruiting and retaining employees.
  • Address challenges with staff scheduling to better align with providing person-directed supports.
  • Provide employees with professional development focused on:
    • Person-directed planning and supports.
    • Advancing the Community-First approach.
    • Facilitating community-based partnerships.
    • Supporting people who have, or are developing complex needs, and those who are experiencing the effects of a transition.
    • Valuing and applying professional development.

Agency of Choice

  • Make marketing a central business function.
  • Publicize and promote CLPS activities and successes in ways that capture the attention and engage a wide range of affiliates.
  • Attract people looking for services and looking for employment.
  • Raise overall understanding and awareness of CLPS’ work and achievements, and how to access support.
  • Measure progress and success through planned collection of data and metrics.
