INDIVIDUALIZED FUNDING OPERATIONS INTERN – ONE-YEAR CONTRACT

Community Living Parry Sound (CLPS) has been working with people with developmental disabilities and their families over 60 years, supporting people to build better lives in their community. The work we do is driven by our common goal of living in a community where everyone has the power and freedom to determine the life they want. As our programs and services continue to grow, we are seeking the perfect addition to our support services team.

PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE OF INTERNSHIP:

The Individualized Funding Operations Intern will indirectly support people with developmental disabilities in ways that will enhance the quality of their lives through person directed planning, researching supports, and providing practical resources. This position will provide training to the intern that is unique, person directed, and in alignment with where the developmental services sector is moving to. Individualized funding service skills are not readily available in the developmental services labour market and will offer the candidate an opportunity to benefit from the specialized skill set of experienced staff members.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE:

• Candidate must be a new entrant into the workforce, are transitioning to a new career, or the unemployed or underemployed who are entering a new field.
• Candidate must have not previously participated in an NOHFC funded internship in the 2020 Mandate.
• Candidate must be 18 years of age or older.
• Candidates must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

Candidates must possess a minimum of secondary education; post-secondary education in Human Services, Business Administration, or a related field is considered an asset. Applicants must have the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Excellent computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Access to a reliable vehicle for business use and a valid G Driver’s license.

SPECIFIC KEY DUTIES:

• • Meet with individuals to understand their goals, interests, and support needs.
  • Facilitate person-directed planning that is aligned with the individual’s preferences and budgets.
  • Process purchases that enhance quality of life.
  • Coordinate flexible, individualized supports with people and staff.
  • Manage and apply funding in line with Passport One guidelines.
  • Support creative marketing and event planning initiatives.
  • Build partnerships with community organizations to promote inclusion and participation in the community.
  • Strengthen capacity in person-directed approaches across the team and community.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

• $23.57 Hourly
• Vacation Entitlement: 2 Weeks
• 1-Year Contract
• Full-Time
• Paid Sick Time
