Planning Services
This service supports people to explore their interests, find their purpose, and create the pathway to achieving the life they want to live. This service embodies the Community Living Parry Sound motto: Respecting Abilities and Inspiring Possibilities. We believe people deserve to have their gifts and talents acknowledged and seen and their goals, needs, and wants heard and listened to. We call the service Person-Directed Planning because it supports people to exercise their right to self-determination; to have the central role and final say in all decisions that involve their support and well-being.
CLPS has a trained and certified team that specializes in providing Person-Directed Planning. Their support:
- Recognizes and respects all communication styles
- Identifies barriers that prevent one’s full inclusion in the community
- Helps to establish new connections to community-based resources as well as strengthen existing ones
- Provides a plan designed to enhance the quality of life for each person
- Promotes informed and independent decision-making
Building the life of one’s choosing is a big task and can be intimidating, but thankfully, it is never a solo effort. The process always involves connecting with one’s existing support network (family, friends, and staff), inviting them to learn about and contribute to the plan. The plan, of course, is not some fixed checklist that dictates the the rest of one’s life... but rather something that is constantly changing and growing, just as they do.
