Community Participation
This service supports adults with developmental disabilities to build authentic connections within their community. Our team of Community Inclusion and Support Facilitators use their position [and skillset] as connectors to help people realize and fulfill their goals. This service offers personalized support with community–based activities that enhance one’s quality of life – activities like skill-building, recreation, volunteerism, and even exploring education or employment opportunities. With Community Participation, people can grow their natural support networks and their capacity for self-determination around the socially valued roles they create through active involvement in community life.
The eligibility criteria for Community Participation support are not determined by Community Living Parry Sound, but by Developmental Services Ontario (DSO), the access point for adult developmental services. To be eligible to receive Community Participation support (per the DSO), one must be:
- 18 years of age or older
- Diagnosed with having a developmental disability
- Connected with the DSO and have been approved to receive Community Participation Supports from a provider in your area.
