Family Support Services

This service provides support to families with a child (between 3 and 18 years) diagnosed with a developmental disability. Family Support Services are delivered by our team that’s trained in providing specialized care to families and youth. The team works alongside families as they navigate life in the community, supporting them to access the resources that can help to meet the immediate and future needs of their child (and family as a whole).

The Family Support Services team focuses on:

  • promoting self-advocacy
  • providing case management (working with other service providers to better support you)
  • assisting with funding applications
  • engaging in inclusive educational initiatives
  • supporting the exploration of employment, volunteer, and recreation opportunities

In addition to providing these supports, the team also facilitates an online community in which families provide support to each other. The Family Support Group is a safe virtual space for families who receive support from Community Living Parry Sound to connect. The Family Support Group allows families to share stories, build advocacy skills, and make recommendations for community resources and services.
