A Message from the Premier
Our government remains committed to improving supports for adults with developmental disabilities — and their families — in order to help these adults live as independently as possible and fully integrate into society. In keeping with this commitment, and combined with funding announced in our 2013 Budget, we are investing an additional $810 million in the community and developmental services sector over the next three years, beginning in 2014-15.
For individuals with developmental disabilities, this new investment would expand direct funding programs to help them participate in their communities. It would expand individualized planning to assist in the transition to adulthood, the search for employment, and the achievement of greater independence. It would also provide residential services for those with urgent needs.
Our government is also focused on those who provide services and care to citizens with developmental disabilities. People with developmental disabilities rely on hundreds of agencies across Ontario for a wide array of safe, high-quality services. That is why we are investing $200 million over three years for front-line workers in these agencies to ensure families have the services they require in their communities.
We think it is the job of government to provide the ladder and a steady hand to help people climb up and achieve their full potential.
Kathleen Wynne
Premier of Ontario
